About this here site: I wrote some posts about my family on an old, now-archived WordPress blog, and my friend Adam Roberts wrote to say that he liked what I had written and hoped that I would turn it into something bigger, a book perhaps. I replied, 

Adam, thanks so much for this commendation — it truly means a great deal to me. I do think I will continue to tell my story, but I probably won't try to publish it. All that I am remembering seems to want to be not a single consecutive story, but rather a kind of collage, my own private Arcades Project, in a sense. I can imagine concluding it some day and turning it into an e-book, with non-chronological organization and lots of photographs — but submitting it to the discipline of the modern publishing game … that seems like a recipe for frustration.
